What it is & what it does

• This is a high-end, business-grade UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) designed to protect electrical equipment from such maladies as dirty AC from the wall, power surges, brownouts, and complete blackouts by providing power conditioning, surge suppression, and battery backup. We consider a UPS to be an essential element of any professional computer system, as well as pretty cheap insurance against most preventable circuit damage and data loss.

• In the event of a power failure, the battery in this UPS will maintain power to your critical devices, which will give you time to save your work and to properly shutdown your system.

• This UPS provides 6 power-conditioned electrical outlets: 3 are connected to a special battery backup circuit and the remaining 3 are surge suppressor outlets only, which are used for non-critical system elements and for a laser printer, which is not supported by the battery backup circuit.

• This UPS can connect to a desktop computer or a NAS (network attached storage) box using a USB cable and, in some cases, special APC software, both of which are included. This will allow an unattended attached device to automatically, and properly, shutdown in the event of a power failure without any loss of data.

NOTE: The battery in this particular UPS unit is designed to power one workspace, which is approximately the combined wattage of one desktop computer, one monitor, and one telephone, for enough time to gracefully shutdown your system.
